I’ve been going to this place for the last six years, and I can’t believe I haven’t left a review until now! Public House 28 is a fun, welcoming neighborhood bar with genuinely lovely people working there. They host different activities throughout the week - music bingo, trivia nights, and even days when kids eat FREE - but my absolute favorite is their Friday karaoke. Gordon, one of the bartenders, is fantastic. He used to be a rock star, and it shows! He often joins customers during karaoke with his incredible voice, making the night even more unforgettable. Don, the owner, is friendly, personable, and truly professional. He’s there often, greeting everyone with a huge smile and making you feel right at home. The food is great too - delicious burgers, the owner’s grandma’s recipe chicken skewers, and a lineup of wonderful sides (the Mac & Cheese is my favorite!). It’s the perfect spot to unwind after a stressful day or enjoy a fun night out with friends. Highly recommend this place!

When I first walked into Public House 28, nestled at 2030 Bolton Rd NW, Atlanta, GA 30318, United States, the cozy yet lively vibe immediately caught my attention. The moment you step through the door, the warm lighting and rustic décor create a sense of comfort, making it the perfect spot for both casual lunches and evening hangouts. From my experience, the atmosphere strikes a rare balance between being laid-back and bustling, where you can enjoy a conversation without feeling lost in the crowd.
The menu at Public House 28 is a delight for anyone who loves classic American cuisine with a twist. I tried their signature burger, which had a perfect blend of juicy beef, crisp vegetables, and a soft brioche bun that held up beautifully without getting soggy. For sides, the truffle fries are a must-order-they’re golden, crispy, and seasoned just right. Interestingly, a study by the National Restaurant Association shows that 78% of diners prefer eateries that offer a mix of traditional favorites and inventive dishes, and this spot nails that balance effortlessly.
Drinks at Public House 28 deserve special mention. Their craft beer selection is thoughtfully curated, featuring local breweries as well as some international options. I remember enjoying a small tasting flight, which allowed me to compare flavors and pick my favorite for the evening. It’s clear that the staff is knowledgeable about pairings, and they are more than happy to guide you through their beverage menu. According to industry research, expert recommendations like this can significantly enhance the overall dining experience, and I found it true here.
What sets this diner apart is not just the food but the genuine service. During my visit, the staff went out of their way to accommodate a last-minute dietary request. For anyone exploring the Atlanta area, the location is convenient and easy to access, yet it maintains a neighborhood feel. The outdoor seating area is perfect for sunny afternoons, and the indoor space offers a mix of communal tables and more intimate booths, catering to groups of all sizes. Local reviews often highlight this combination of accessibility and ambiance as one of the main reasons people keep coming back.
The quality of ingredients is another standout point. Everything from the produce to the meats seems carefully selected, supporting the overall freshness and flavor of the dishes. A case study from the Culinary Institute of America emphasizes that ingredient sourcing directly impacts taste perception and repeat visits, and Public House 28 clearly follows this principle.
One of the most impressive aspects is how seamlessly they handle both casual and special occasions. During my visit, I observed a small group celebrating a birthday, and the staff managed it with ease, providing thoughtful touches without disrupting the other diners. This level of attentiveness shows a high level of professionalism and experience in running a versatile restaurant environment.
Whether you’re stopping by for a quick bite, a full meal, or drinks with friends, Public House 28 demonstrates a perfect blend of flavor, service, and ambiance. Delicious food and very cool atmosphere. Chef Jodie does an amazing job with the menu delivering fresh and tasty entrees quickly. We grabbed brunch on a Saturday with chicken +waffles and were not disappointed. Definitely recommended!!
A great selection of burgers and sandwiches on the menu, including an amazing caprese burger. One of the best burgers I’ve had in quite a while. Customer service was strong and prices are very reasonable. Great place to have a meal or drinks to meet with friends or watch a game.
Public House 28 is officially one of my go-to client lunch spots in Douglasville! After a morning of touring homes, I brought my clients here, and it was the perfect choice. The atmosphere is upscale yet relaxed — exactly the vibe you want when you’re unwinding but still having thoughtful conversation. The service was attentive without being overbearing, and every recommendation our server made was spot-on. The menu strikes that sweet balance of elevated comfort food and chef-driven creativity. My clients raved about their dishes, and I couldn’t stop talking about how fresh and flavorful everything was. Another highlight for me? The dog-friendly patio! I love that they even have a menu item for your fur baby — such a thoughtful touch that sets them apart and makes it easy to include your four-legged family members. What I really love is how versatile the space feels — it works just as well for a business lunch as it does for a casual evening out. It left such a great impression on my clients, and that’s priceless in my line of work. If you’re in the Douglasville area (whether you’re house-hunting with me or just passing through), you need to treat yourself to Public House 28. Excellent food, top-notch service, a polished yet welcoming vibe, and yes — a warm welcome for your pup too. — Kara S. Lawrence, Next Steps Real Estate
I ordered the tomato basil chicken and wow. It came with Brussel sprouts. Exceptional taste. I do not like Brussel sprouts. The waitress asked if Brussel sprouts would be ok as the side. I asked how are those cooked. She told me and I said I would try them. I am sooo glad I did. I now like Brussel sprouts ( there ). Ha. I met the chef and he is great and a great chef at that. Waitress was awesome and very helpful. I will be back again. Thank you Public House 28.
Salmon BLT.....I drive across town just for it! I'm not even sure what else is on the menu, but I'm sure everything on the menu is awesome. Go to their website, I bet you'll find something you'd like, probably a lot. Awesome draft beers too! I try different ones every time. There agIn, you're bound to find one that suits you. If you're thinking about choosing Public House 28, do it, you'll be glad you did.

I really like Public House 28. My go-to order is the Hickory Chicken Sandwich and if we are very hungry we love to order an Enormous Bavarian Pretzel! Staff is always super nice and the building is clean. We went to their Christmas Karaoke event last year and had so much fun!
